I just got back from Spain and Portugal. It was a trip of a lifetime for me. There was so much history that I gathered for the first time of my great, great, great ancestors on my mother’s side of my family, who were Moors in the Iberian Peninsula of Spain (The Straights of Gibraltar). The Moor’s great architecture, irrigation system, beautiful silk making knowledge, olive processing and beautiful old historic cities that live on today from centuries past tell their story of greatness: grand multilevel palaces and heavenly paradise gardens.

The Jews who were great merchants, teachers, and musicians in Spain lived alongside the Moors and the Christians for the most part from 711 to 1492 in peace and harmony. Then in 1492 the Moors and the Jews were forced out of Spain to Portugal, but, what they created together in Spain is amazing. Beautifully marked are the old Moor and Jewish neighborhoods, alongside their mosques, temples, and cathedrals.

Simply marvelous it all was to me! I had to pause just to take it all in and the whole time I paused, I was thanking God for eyesight and for this experience.
